In January 2010, Nancy arrived to Canada with her 3 month old baby cousin named Josué which she rescued from his home. The baby was badly injured and spent three days soaking in a water basin trapped under the rubble. Both his mother and older sister died in the home and Nancy was asked by authorities to fly to Canada with the baby so he could live with his father.
Josué was quickly treated at CHEO and has been thriving ever since. His cousin Nancy was invited by our family to live in our home. Nancy lived with us for over 18 months where she took the time necessary to properly integrate into Canadian culture. During that time, she learned to speak French and English. She has since obtained two college diplomas and is a very hard working. Nancy is thriving also in Canada and we are blessed to count her as a member of out family.
